This wall clock was all about stripping things down to the essentials—minimal cost, construction, and materials—while still delivering strong visual appeal.

At IKEA, projects like this fall under BTI, or breathtaking items, a playful term for designs that look great while keeping prices impressively low.

With those constraints in mind, the result is simple yet effective: numbers are cut out as holes to reduce material use and eliminate extra color. The clock consists of just an injection-molded case, a movement, two hands, and a transparent lens—nothing more, nothing less. A challenge I truly enjoyed.
